Warrant Obtained By FBI In Second Clinton Email Investigation

As reported in The Guardian, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has obtained a warrant to further investigate emails found on a computer of a former aide Huma Abedin, of Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state. The investigation is over the use of Mrs Clinton‘s use of a private email server during service as a senior official in the federal government. This is the second investigation launched by the FBI.

Senior Democrats have come forth with a letter of condemnation of the FBI and it’s head official James Comey, accusing them of “partisan actions” in an effort to “influence to interfere with or affect the result of an election”. Minority leader Harry Reid composed a letter which is quoted to have stated:

“Your actions in recent months have demonstrated a disturbing double standard for the treatment of sensitive information, with what appears to be a clear intent to aid one political party over another. My office has determined that these actions may violate the Hatch Act, which bars FBI officials from using their official authority to influence an election. Through your partisan action, you may have broken the law.”

The Hatch Act prevents federal employees from seeking office or using authority to swing or influence the outcome of elections.

Democratic congressman Steve Cohen has asked for Mr Comey’s resignation. He is quoted to have stated of Comey’s letter in regards to the email investigation:

“was plainly premature, careless and unprecedented in its potential impact upon a presidential election without a speck of information regarding the emails in question, their validity, substance or relevance”

Former attorney general Eric Holder is quoted to have stated in a letter of criticism of Mr Comey and the FBI: “invited considerable, uninformed public speculation” of the importance of the emails. The first investigation of the emails was surrounded by speculation that Russian intelligence had facilitated a hack, in association with the Republican candidate for president Donald Trump.

Senior Senate Democrats Dianne Feinstein, Ben Cardin, Thomas Carper & Patrick Leahy have appealed for an immediate briefing about the new emails found in the laptop concerned. The result of the original investigation into over 650,000 emails was concluded in July, Mr Comey & the FBI finding “no intentional or criminal wrongdoing in Clinton’s use of a private server while secretary of state, although he called her practices extremely careless”. Mr Comey had been associated with the Republican party throughout his work in the agency, however as late as July he has admitted that he is no longer registered to a single party. Mr Comey had been deputy attorney general under the administration of former president George W Bush and was delegated to head of the FBI during the administration of President Barack Obama.

Mrs Clinton has stated in reference to the new investigation:

“I’m confident whatever they are will not change the conclusion reached in July. Therefore, it’s imperative that the Bureau explain this issue in question whatever it is without any delay, So I look forward to moving forward to focus on the important challenges facing the American people, winning on November 8 and working with all Americans to build a better future for our country.”

Republican candidate Donald Trump has said that he will keep the American people “in suspense” as to whether he will accept the outcome of the election if he is found not to have won, stated during debate with the Democratic candidate that he will send the Democratic candidate Mrs Clinton to jail, has made contrary statements about his relationship with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, refused to reveal his tax returns while the New York Times has found from a 1995 return that he could have legally avoided paying federal taxes for the past 18 years due to a $960,000 tax credit, stated that the General Elections are “rigged” in reference to absentee ballots and voting in advance, threatened lawsuit against the dozen women whom have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct by Mr Trump and stated that they are liars, while he was found to have said in a lewd leaked video that he could do anything to women (sexual misconduct). President Obama has stated in reference to Mr Trump calling a “rigged” election: “When you try to sow the seeds of doubt in people’s minds about our elections, that undermines our democracy”.

Law enforcement official, Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke has stated in a Republican rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin: “it is pitchfork and torches time in America”.

Ms Abedin’s emails were discovered during an investigation of her husband Anthony Weiner, whom has recently been accused of sexting a minor. Ms Abedin had made emails from her husband’s laptop. She is has been said to be fully cooperating during this investigation by John Podesta, Chairman of Hillary for America.
