Woody Allen‘s Café Society got loads of attention with it’s star studded cast at the Cannes Film Festival. The veteran film director faced scandal by sexual abuse allegations from his daughter Dylan Farrow, exposed in an essay by biological son, Ronan Farrow in a timely manner with the Café Society premiere. The film premiered out of competition. The press skirted around any questions that could have been asked and as ever attention was paid to the work and not the director’s personal life. Not addressed is the opinion of other members of the Farrow/Previn family, such as Moses Farrow, who after severing ties with his adoptive father, Allen, has since reconciled and defended him. His allegations have made it unclear of exactly whom was a possible abuser during their upbringing, Mia Farrow or Woody Allen.
Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg and Blake Lively turned out looking stunning, expecting her second child with husband Ryan Reynolds. Woody Allen was there with wife Soon-Yi Previn.
The Jodie Foster directed Money Monster, starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts was also a highlight. Ms. Roberts did an amazing thing by taking the red carpet in evening gown, barefoot. This will join her list of feminist protest acts, such as bearing armpit hair with an evening gown in 1999. Really, she is a hero. Love the black nail polish. George was accompanied by the human rights attorney, his gorgeous wife Amal Clooney.
Also the beautiful Lily-Rose Depp and her equally as beauteous mother, Vanessa Paradis were both at Cannes. Paradis serving as a juror for the Grand Prix and Palme d’Or along side Kirsten Dunst. Depp starred in La Danseuse as the 19th century dancer Isadora Duncan.
