Chiwetel Ejiofor & Benedict Cumberbatch Shoot Scenes Of “Dr. Strange” In New York.

Benedict Cumberbatch was shooting Marvel’s Dr. Strange as lead role Doctor Stephen Strange as Chiwetel Ejiofor acted along side and stars as Baron Mordo in April, 2016 in New York. The 2 characters are said to be the most powerful sorcerers in the Marvel Universe. The 2 Britons (Cumberbatch and Ejiofor) are friends as well as colleagues, having previously worked together in Academy Award winning 12 Years A Slave (2013) directed by fellow Briton, the brilliant Steve McQueen.

Perhaps it came off a bit public school boy when Benedict Cumberbatch used the word coloured to describe thespians of colour. He is quoted to have said in an interview on the Tavis Smiley Show (PBS) in early 2015, “I think as far as coloured actors go, it gets really different in the UK, and a lot of my friends have had more opportunities here [in America] than in the UK, and that’s something that needs to change.”

Too true that is, too bad he used a term that perhaps was discontinued in use in the USA in 1965 or earlier. Actually in the USA the term is Colored while the spelling Coloured, a term of ethnicity is still in use in the continents of Africa and South America and the nations United Kingdom and France. So that’s something really specific. This all happened before the discontent of #OscarsSoWhite, showing that indeed Hollywood isn’t so great for actors of colour either, later in 2015 leading up to the Oscars in the spring.

My theory was that Steve McQueen took the year off so who the heck could have stepped into the role of Oscar nominees of colour? They went by the name of Alejandro G. Iñárritu, a man of colour, Mexican director (and genius) Alejandro González Iñárritu. ❤️

Good lookers!

Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor go as far back as the drama studies at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art that they both attended. Chiwetel Ejiofor has played Shakespearean roles Othello (of course, give me five! ? ) and Romeo Montague in various productions.

Benedict looks like Sherlock coming out of the drug den. A bit rough around the edges.

From The Mail Online, looks like they shot on Broadway in Soho, could be Fifth Avenue too, not too sure. There’s always the mayor’s office list of productions to find out what’s on.
