Billy Bush, who brought us an insightful interview with the controversial Olympian Ryan Lochte in Rio de Janeiro, while working on the Today Show with Al Roker & Natalie Morales, in which he tells his original story of being robbed at gunpoint, has been put on suspension from his anchor position at the Today Show as of Sunday and negotiating his permanent exit from the TV program, according to the Huffington Post.
The suspension has come in light of the leaking of Mr Bush talking with Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump in 2005, published by The Washington Post, while the latter was preparing for a cameo on the soap opera Days Of Our Lives, during his tenure at Access Hollywood. The recorded conversation, includes vulgar comments made by Mr Trump in which he brags that because of his fame, he “can do anything”, “just kiss”, “grab them by the pussy.. anything” to women, assumably within a professional setting, such as the shooting of this cameo.
The nephew to former president George W H Bush and cousin to former president George W Bush and former governor of Florida Jeb Bush, allegedly bragged about the Trump footage while in Rio de Janeiro during the Olympics to NBC staff, according to PageSix of The New York Post.
Mr Bush has released a statement:
“Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago – I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry.”
